Fished the Delta this weekend with some good results. The areas we fished had some stained water due to the run off but working spinner baits and chatter baits and a little flipping we managed to catch about 15 fish up to 3 pounds. We did not find any of the bigger females starting to move up but this bite will only get better. A lot of boat traffic with tournaments and other fisherman trying to get in on the good bite. Don’t let that dirty water stop you from trying to get in on this great fishery.
Folsom Lake has been putting out some good limits of bass. The main body has been the most consistent area. The north and South forks are better fished later in the afternoon giving the back waters of the cove a chance to warm up with all the cold water running into the lake. Working off shore humps and deep brakes close to shallow spawning areas has been good for staging fish. Tubes, grubs and small swim baits are all working to get bites. always check some of the shallow flats for early spawners cruising by.
Folsom lake is coming on fast as the water looks better than ever for this time of year. Water temps are in the mid 50’s and we are catching fish from the bank down to 25 feet. Most of the fish are spotted bass with some small mouth mixed in. Look for the Large Mouth to start to show as this lake warms a little more. This would be a good time to break out your best swim baits to try for early staging fish. This week we gat on a great bite with fish up to 3 pounds moving up to feed in mid day. We lost count but had a good 30 fish day.
